Very warm so a slow ride along Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal from Bury – Hinds Lane – to Radcliffe. Crossed Irwell at Wellington Street footbridge then turned left for fifty yards to Hinds Lane ‘entrance’. It’s overgrown in parts but Hogweed, near the entrance and some of the undergrowth, has been cut-back a yard or so. Later it closes in a bit and canal path is only a foot or two wide. Fine on two feet, but on two wheels take care.
To Radcliffe it’s two to three easy, flat, traffic-free miles along the two hundred year-old oopart.
