Along Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, an iron section is between two old, stone walls. To the right but unseen, an unusually shaped building – like a house – has, over the doorway, the inscription carved in stone: ‘Reading Room’.
The iron work is the side of a railway bridge that was over the tracks at Black Lane Station and the old ‘house’ was once the railway ‘waiting room’. From there, the rail-track led to Bradley Fold, one way, or Radcliffe (Coney Green) the other, along what is now Banana Walk.
