Wednesday October 31st 2012.

While riding along aside a reservoir feed-channel, a small ‘weir’ was noticed and, by the side of the built stone sections, was a black, rounded stone.(?) As the undergrowth dies back, this will become more visible and easier to photograph.

Monday October 29th 2012.

A detour today, into local woodland, revealed the basic remnants of a once busy railway network. After many years the trees and shrubs are actually growing around them.

Wednesday October 24th 2012.

A photograph of old, railway stonework from the nineteenth century and still going strong as a cycle-route! The cobbles, at the foot of the viaduct, look original too. The bridge spans a road and The Irwell these days.
